Woodpecker Alternative: Free Email Warm-Up vs Outreach Suite
Woodpecker is an outreach platform with warm-up included; BobWork is a free standalone warm-up tool for up to 10 mailboxes. If you only need warm-up, Woodpecker’s $35/month base plan can make you pay for campaign features you do not use. This guide compares price, limits, provider support, and when to keep both.
Prices were read on 17 October 2026 from the vendor’s pricing page; check before you buy. You can verify the current plan details on the Woodpecker pricing page. If you only need a standalone warm-up layer, compare Woodpecker’s included slots with the free email warm-up tool before changing your outreach stack.
Is BobWork a Woodpecker alternative?
Yes, but only for the warm-up part.
Woodpecker is a cold-email platform. Its base plan is $35/month for up to 500 contacted prospects. It includes 4 free warm-up slots, and extra warm-up mailboxes cost $5/month each.
BobWork Email Warm-up is a standalone warm-up tool. It is free for up to 10 mailboxes per account, with no credit card and no time limit. Each active mailbox above 10 costs $5/month.
That difference matters. If you need sequences, inbox rotation, adaptive sending, LinkedIn steps, email verification, and in-app domain or mailbox buying, Woodpecker is the broader product.
If you only need mailboxes to send and receive warm-up conversations, BobWork may cover the job without a monthly base plan. It does not replace Woodpecker’s outreach platform, and it does not support Outlook yet.
Warm-up is not a substitute for consent, list quality, or authentication. Use it alongside SPF, DKIM, DMARC, sensible sending volume, and clean targeting. If you are still deciding whether warm-up is worth running, read does email warm-up work?.
How do the plans compare?
This table compares the warm-up-relevant parts only. It does not treat BobWork as an outreach platform, because it is not one.
| Feature | Woodpecker | BobWork Email Warm-up |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $35/month for up to 500 contacted prospects; annual 33% off | $0 up to 10 mailboxes; $5/month for each active mailbox above 10 |
| Billing unit | Contacted prospects per month; unlimited users and mailboxes | Per account; mailbox count matters only above the free 10 |
| Free plan | None | Free forever, no card, no time limit |
| Trial | 14 days or 100 cold emails, whichever comes first; no card | Not needed for the free plan |
| Included warm-up | 4 warm-up slots on the base tier; extra slots are $5/month each | 10 mailboxes free per account; extra active mailboxes are $5/month each |
| Daily warm-up volume | Ramps to 50/day by default | Starts at 3/day, adds 2/day, caps at 30/day by default; cap editable to 100 |
| Pool type | AI-generated sales conversations with real email accounts, powered by Mailivery/Warmy | Shared warm-up network by default, or private pool per account |
| Providers | Google, Microsoft, any SMTP/IMAP | Gmail/Google Workspace, Zoho, Lark, Yahoo, iCloud, Amazon SES, SendGrid, Mailgun, any IMAP+SMTP |
| Outlook | Yes | Not yet |
The main trade-off is simple. Woodpecker gives you outreach plus warm-up. BobWork gives you free warm-up for 10 mailboxes plus a simpler pay-as-you-go Outbound (beta).
The other trade-off is Microsoft support. Woodpecker supports Microsoft and Outlook. BobWork does not yet support Outlook or Microsoft 365 because Microsoft requires OAuth. If your sending stack is mainly Microsoft, do not move those mailboxes to BobWork today.
BobWork supports any IMAP+SMTP mailbox where the provider allows that connection. That covers many hosted mailboxes, plus SMTP services such as Amazon SES, SendGrid, and Mailgun when paired with a receiving inbox over IMAP.
For background on the pool model, read what an email warm-up network does. The pool affects who your mailbox exchanges messages with and whether one mailbox is enough to start.
What will warm-up cost?
Use this table when you are comparing warm-up access, not full campaign value. For Woodpecker, the $35/month base plan is required and includes 4 warm-up slots. Extra warm-up slots cost $5/month each. For BobWork, the first 10 active mailboxes are free.
| Mailboxes to warm | Woodpecker monthly cost | Woodpecker calculation | BobWork monthly cost | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $35 | Base plan includes 4 slots | $0 | BobWork costs $35 less |
| 5 | $40 | $35 base + 1 extra slot at $5 | $0 | BobWork costs $40 less |
| 20 | $115 | $35 base + 16 extra slots at $5 | $30 | BobWork costs $85 less |
Read the table two ways.
If you already pay for Woodpecker because you use its campaigns, the first 4 warm-up slots add no extra cost. The fifth mailbox adds $5/month. Twenty warm-up mailboxes add $80/month on top of the base plan.
If you do not need Woodpecker’s campaign engine, the base plan matters. You are paying at least $35/month before the fifth warm-up mailbox adds any cost.
BobWork’s extra mailbox price is also $5/month once you pass 10 active mailboxes. The difference is the free allowance. BobWork gives you up to 10 warm-up mailboxes before billing starts.

When is Woodpecker better?
Woodpecker is stronger when you need outreach workflow, not just warm-up.
It has 16-step sequences. Use that if you need follow-ups, structured campaigns, and sales touchpoints in one place. BobWork does not replace a sequence builder.
It includes inbox rotation. That helps teams distribute campaign sending across multiple mailboxes. BobWork warms mailboxes, but it does not manage live campaign rotation.
It offers adaptive sending. That is useful when you want the outreach tool to adjust sending inside campaigns. BobWork uses a warm-up ramp, not a campaign-optimisation engine.
It includes free email verification. Verification can reduce obvious bounces before a campaign starts. BobWork does not verify prospect lists.
It supports LinkedIn steps. If your outbound process mixes email and LinkedIn, Woodpecker keeps those steps closer together. BobWork handles email only: warm-up, plus email-only Outbound sequences (beta).
It lets you buy domains and mailboxes in-app. That can help teams build infrastructure from one dashboard. BobWork does not sell domains or mailboxes.
It supports Outlook and Microsoft. This is the clearest provider advantage. If you send from Microsoft 365 or Outlook and want warm-up inside the same platform, Woodpecker fits today. BobWork does not.
When is BobWork enough?
BobWork is simpler when your job is only to warm mailboxes.
You do not need a credit card. You do not need to start a trial clock. You can warm up to 10 mailboxes per account without paying, and there is no time limit.
The default pool is a shared warm-up network. One mailbox is enough to start because it exchanges warm-up mail with other active mailboxes in the network.
If you prefer isolation, switch to a private pool in the dashboard under Mailbox pool → Pool mode. Private pool mode needs at least 2 mailboxes because only your own mailboxes write to each other.
The engine uses a published ramp. It starts at 3 emails/day, adds 2 per day, and caps at 30/day by default. Weekends run at 30%. Sends are spread across 09:00–18:00 in the mailbox’s own time zone.
The free pool does this step automatically: about 40% of received warm-up mail gets a reply, and threads end after 3 messages. Content is plain text office talk, without links or images.
BobWork checks SPF, DKIM, and DMARC daily via DNS and shows results per domain. If you want to check those records yourself first, use the guide to SPF, DKIM and DMARC for cold email.
Spam rescue is limited to warm-up mail. Warm-up messages found in Spam are moved to Inbox, marked read, labelled Warm-up, and archived after 24 hours. Only mail carrying the engine’s hidden header, or a known subject for Zoho API senders, is touched.
Real mail is never read, moved, or answered. BobWork measures spam landings directly in receiving mailboxes. It does not use third-party seed lists.
The ready gate is conservative. A mailbox is ready for outbound after 14+ days warming, a 7-day spam rate of 3% or less, and at least 30 warm-up emails received.
During campaigns, BobWork recommends keeping warm-up at 10–15/day and real outreach at 30–50/day per mailbox. For the full ramp, see the BobWork warm-up strategy. For campaign limits, read how many cold emails per day is safe.
What if you also need to send campaigns?
BobWork has an optional Outbound feature (beta) in the same app. It sends cold email sequences of up to 4 steps from your own warmed mailboxes, priced pay as you go at $2 per 1,000 emails from prepaid credits ($10, $25 or $100, never expire), with no monthly fee. Only mailboxes that passed the warm-up ready check can send, capped at 30 cold emails a day per mailbox in the first week and 50 after, and warm-up keeps running on the same mailboxes.
It is deliberately simpler than Woodpecker: email steps with merge fields, one-click unsubscribe, replies that stop the sequence, and an automatic stop when a mailbox's bounce rate passes 5%. Replies from every mailbox show in one Inbox (beta), with optional AI reply drafts at $0.05 each. If you need Woodpecker's extra channels or advanced sequencing, keep Woodpecker for sending and use BobWork for free warm-up. If your sending is low or irregular, paying per email can cost less than a monthly plan. How Outbound pricing works.
How do you switch safely?
Do not switch everything at once. Start with mailboxes that BobWork supports and that do not need Woodpecker’s campaign workflow.
1. List your mailboxes
Put every sending mailbox in a spreadsheet. Add provider, domain, current campaign tool, daily outreach volume, and whether it is one of Woodpecker’s 4 included warm-up slots.
Mark Microsoft and Outlook mailboxes as keep in Woodpecker for now. BobWork does not support them yet.
2. Choose one role
Give each mailbox one role.
If the mailbox sends campaigns in Woodpecker, keep campaign sending there. If it only needs warm-up, connect it to BobWork. If it is covered by Woodpecker’s included slots and you already pay for Woodpecker, there may be no cost reason to move it.
Avoid running two warm-up engines on the same mailbox. That can create unnatural volume and makes results harder to read.
3. Check authentication
Confirm SPF, DKIM, and DMARC before adding more sending volume. Use your DNS host to check TXT and CNAME records. Then verify them with provider dashboards or a checker.
BobWork also checks SPF, DKIM, and DMARC daily once the domain is connected.
4. Connect supported mailboxes
Sign in to BobWork with an email code. There is no password and no card requirement.
For Gmail and Google Workspace, use Google sign-in or IMAP with an app password. Google shows an unverified-app notice because BobWork has not completed the CASA audit. The Google scope used is gmail.modify.
For Zoho Mail, use the Zoho Mail API route with a Self Client code, which works on the free Zoho plan. You can also use IMAP on Mail Lite and higher.
For Lark Mail, Yahoo Mail, iCloud Mail, and many hosted providers, use IMAP with the required app password or mail-client password.
For Amazon SES, SendGrid, and Mailgun, use the platform’s SMTP credentials for sending plus the receiving inbox over IMAP. If your provider is not listed, use any IMAP+SMTP mailbox where the provider allows third-party mail clients.
5. Pick pool mode
Leave the default shared warm-up network on if you want one mailbox to start immediately. It will warm with other active mailboxes in the network.
Switch to private pool if you only want your own account’s mailboxes to write to each other. Use Mailbox pool → Pool mode in the dashboard. A private pool needs at least 2 mailboxes.
6. Let the ramp finish
For an existing domain, run at least 14 days before judging readiness. For a new domain, allow 3–4 weeks. The new-domain warm-up guide covers the ramp.
BobWork marks a mailbox ready for outbound when it has warmed for 14+ days, has a 7-day spam rate of 3% or less, and has received at least 30 warm-up emails. Pause a mailbox for a few days if the spam rate rises above 5%.
7. Separate campaign volume
Warm-up volume is not your campaign limit. During campaigns, keep warm-up around 10–15/day and real outreach around 30–50/day per mailbox. Add mailboxes rather than forcing one mailbox to send too much.
If you continue using Woodpecker for outreach, keep warm-up disabled in one of the two tools for each mailbox. Use Woodpecker for sequences and BobWork only for mailboxes outside the campaign system.
What should you check now?
Use this checklist before you cancel, switch, or add another tool.
| Step | Action | How to verify |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Count the mailboxes you need to warm | Separate Microsoft/Outlook from Gmail, Zoho, IMAP, and SMTP-service mailboxes |
| 2 | Mark Woodpecker campaign mailboxes | Keep any mailbox that needs Woodpecker sequences, rotation, or LinkedIn steps in Woodpecker |
| 3 | Calculate Woodpecker slot cost | Use $35/month base with 4 warm-up slots, then $5/month for each extra warm-up mailbox |
| 4 | Compare BobWork cost | First 10 BobWork mailboxes are $0; active mailboxes above 10 are $5/month each |
| 5 | Check provider support | Do not move Outlook or Microsoft 365 mailboxes to BobWork yet |
| 6 | Verify DNS records | SPF, DKIM, and DMARC pass in your DNS checks and in BobWork after connection |
| 7 | Pick one warm-up engine | Confirm the same mailbox is not being warmed in both tools |
| 8 | Run the readiness gate | Wait for 14+ days, 7-day spam rate ≤3%, and at least 30 warm-up emails received |
The honest answer is simple. Woodpecker is better when you need outreach software with warm-up included. BobWork is better when you need free standalone warm-up for supported mailboxes. Start with Gmail, Zoho, IMAP, or SMTP-service mailboxes, keep Outlook in Woodpecker, and compare cost only after you separate warm-up from campaign work.
You can start with BobWork Email Warm-up without a card, warm up to 10 supported mailboxes for free, and keep Woodpecker for the mailboxes that need campaigns or Microsoft support.
Frequently asked questions

Not if you need Woodpecker’s outreach platform. Woodpecker includes sequences, inbox rotation, adaptive sending, LinkedIn steps, email verification, and buying domains or mailboxes in-app. BobWork is a standalone warm-up tool.
Does BobWork support Outlook or Microsoft 365?
Not yet. BobWork supports Gmail, Google Workspace, Zoho, Lark, Yahoo, iCloud, Amazon SES, SendGrid, Mailgun, and any IMAP+SMTP mailbox. Outlook and Microsoft 365 need OAuth support, which is not available yet.
How much does Woodpecker warm-up cost?
Woodpecker’s base plan is $35/month for up to 500 contacted prospects and includes 4 warm-up slots. Extra warm-up mailboxes cost $5/month each. Annual pricing is listed as 33% off.
How many BobWork mailboxes are free?
BobWork Email Warm-up is free for up to 10 mailboxes per account, with no credit card and no time limit. Each active mailbox above 10 is $5/month, billed by Stripe and prorated.

What warm-up volume should I use?
BobWork starts at 3 emails/day, adds 2 per day, and caps at 30/day by default. During campaigns, a typical safe warm-up level is 10–15/day, while real outreach is usually kept at 30–50/day per mailbox.
